Julia Blog: Titans Season is Underway

Posted Sep 25, 2009

Hello Titans Fans,

I can’t believe we had our season opening game last weekend; time really does fly. Let me catch you up on all the exciting things that happened this summer with the cheerleaders. If you read Lindsey R’s last post, you know that we had a memorable time in Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort shooting our best calendar yet!! Upon our return we started our boot camp that lasts the entire month of June. We had etiquette classes, football lessons, skin care 101, and of course our physical training sessions, better know as “Fitness Fridays.”

The month of boot camp concluded with a written test and a physical fitness test. To take the field in August we must pass the written test that entails football knowledge, Titans history, politics, and grammar. We have five components to the physical fitness test and we have to pass 3-4 out of the five, depending on how many years we have been on the squad. While the written test is hard, I think most of us would agree, the physical test challenges us like never before and sets a tone for the year to come.

With June behind us, we continued practice in July to get everyone ready for the pre-season games. We were thrilled to find out at the end of July that we were going to be able to add one more game to our cheering schedule when we were asked to cheer in the Hall of Fame game against the Bills. This was a great honor since the cheerleaders  haven’t traveled with the team since we played in the Super Bowl in 1999. These once-in-a-lifetime trips make you realize what an incredible experience it is to be a part of such a great team. The trip to Canton is one we all will cherish.

The first game for our current team to cheer at LP Field was the Tampa Bay game on August 15. I still remember what my first game felt like four years ago, and that same electricity comes back to me every time I step on the field. It gets even more exciting now that our regular season has started and the stadium explodes with energy from everyone in the stands. We are all looking forward to an amazing season!

Check back next month to see what’s new with the Titans Cheerleaders!!
