Shaw Prepares for Youth Camp, Youth Participate in Griffin's Camp

Posted Jun 8, 2012

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Titans linebacker and 2011 special teams captain Tim Shaw wants youth to develop a passion and pursue it.

Shaw will deliver that message and football skills on June 16 during his third annual free football camp at his former high school in Michigan. While not everyone will leave the Clarenceville High School field and go on to play professional football, Shaw said he hopes the youth learn more about setting goals and achieving them.

Shaw spent his first three seasons in the NFL with three different teams before joining the Titans in September 2010. He has played in all 32 games since joining the Titans, and said he has a special feeling every time he returns to his high school.

“That’s where I learned to love the game of football,” Shaw said. “I think more than anything, that’s the message I wanted to relay to these kids, too, is just enjoy the game and love what you do, and whatever it is that you’re going to do after football, just find a passion and kind of chase it. My motto for the camp is ‘Dream It! Do It!’ and (that means) whatever you want to do, you can definitely get after it and get it done.”

Although Shaw played collegiately at Penn State, he receives help from friends at the University of Michigan, former high school teammates who went on to play college football and from a couple of his friends with the Detroit Lions. He also receives help from high school coaches from schools that are near the camp’s location.

Griffin camp a success: Titans safety Michael Griffin hosted a free youth camp at East Literature Magnet School last Saturday.

Nearly 100 attended the camp in its first year, and Griffin received help from several Titans teammates and area coaches. Here are photos from the camp.
