Titans Spread Cheer to Youth in Foster Care During Annual Holiday Party

Posted Dec 20, 2013

The Titans hosted their 12th annual Christmas party by welcoming 35 young people in the care of Tennessee Department of Children's Services to the team facility.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Titans players, cheerleaders and staff and spouses hosted 35 young people who are in foster care on Friday at a holiday party at Saint Thomas Sports Park.

It was the team’s 12th annual Christmas party for children who are in the care of the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. It’s become a yearly tradition that is a special day for employees throughout the Titans’ organization because of the opportunity to bring joy to others.

The young people were treated to pizza from Papa John’s and cookies for lunch in the team’s dining room before getting an up-close view of the end of the Titans’ practice. The young people were able to meet players and coaches during autograph and photo sessions shortly after the final horn sounded.

“It’s really a highlight for the Department of Children’s Services to come here and have the Titans host a really fun afternoon for these children,” said Carla Aaron, executive director of child safety. “Many of these kids see them on TV and hear about them and will remember this for a long time. Some of them have never made it to a professional football game, so to be able to meet them is making a memory that will last them a lifetime.”

Every young person received a gift bag with Titans gear and a gift card so that each child can be taken for a shopping spree. The Titans gave DCS additional gift cards in case there are children who are placed in the state’s care in the coming days before Christmas.

Titans mascot T-Rac brought energy and excitement to the party as cheerleaders wore festive Santa suits and shared smiles with the young people. Players added a surprise by giving out game-used gloves and towels as special souvenirs.
