Exciting moments. Spectacular players. Edge-of-your-seat experiences. Unparalleled coverage. This is Titans Football. This is Titans Radio.
The award-winning Titans Radio team begins the 2009 season with an experienced team in place. “That experience helps us to tell the stories that develop during a game,” the “Voice of the Titans” Mike Keith said.
Keith’s connection with pro football across the Mid South dates back to 1996, a year before the Tennessee Oilers arrived. Since becoming the “Voice of the Titans” in 1999, Keith has been recognized as one of the premiere play-by-play announcers in professional sports as well as serving as the team’s connection with its fans across the region.
On the air, Keith’s preparation and excitement in delivering Titans Football led to his selection as Tennessee’s Sportscaster of the Year for a fourth consecutive year. Off the air, Keith spends hundreds of hours on the road each off-season speaking to civic clubs, visiting with Titans Radio partners and working with young people as he spreads the excitement about Titans Football.
Titans Radio’s experience also shows in color analyst Frank Wycheck, who begins his fourth season behind the microphone. Just as Wycheck’s football savvy and knowledge of the game paid off in his reception achievements that rank among the NFL’s all-time best, those same traits now benefit fans who listen to Titans Radio. “He’s played so many offensive positions and spent so many hours understanding the game, he helps you understand why the big play happened,” Titans Radio Executive Producer/Gameday Host Larry Stone said.
Stone, beginning his 13th season heading up Titans Radio’s operation, sets the tone for the broadcast using writing, audio, music and high production values to bring the listener inside the game. The two-time finalist for Sportscaster of the Year also works closely with the more than 70 stations across the region that broadcast Titans games, assisting them with programming, sales and promotional ideas.
The experience that really sets Titans Radio apart comes from those who work tirelessly to develop the ideas, report on the stories, and provide a quality broadcast. Network Producer Jonathan Hutton, a Middle Tennessee State University and Titans Radio Internship Program graduate, conducts hundreds of interviews to provide fans the real story about their favorite players. Titans Radio Sideline Reporter Cody Allison has spent 11 years working the huddles to deliver timely information on injuries, as well as in-game adjustments. His work consistently gains the eye and ear of other reporters who work Allison for the stories.
Titans Radio Spotter Jon Justice’s involvement with Titans Radio dates back to the 1997 season when he helped laid the foundation for the network’s coverage. Today, he provides much of the audio fans hear after every game. Former Titans Radio Intern David Reed lends his experience to fans by mixing the sounds of every game, using a comprehensive package of equipment to deliver the feel of the game. Sideline audio, directed by Phillip Noel gives fans the feeling of being in the huddle.
Titans Radio coverage begins one hour before kickoff with the award-winning “Titans Countdown” and continues 45 minutes after each game with the “Locker Room Report.” The network also broadcasts the Tuesday night Jeff Fisher Show and twice-daily Titans Reports. In addition, the award-winning titansradio.com website delivers Titans Radio audio and Titans news as it happens, 24-7, in-season and off-season.
Across the Mid South, every game, every highlight, every instance --- you won’t forget. This is Titans Football. This is Titans Radio.
