NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Titans on Tuesday concluded that Markelle Martin will stay on the physically unable to perform list for the remainder of the season.

The Titans drafted the rookie safety in the sixth round even though Martin tore his meniscus when he was preparing for the NFL Combine.

Martin has been working hard to return to action, but hasn't played in a game since he finished his college career at Oklahoma State. He did some initial workouts with the Titans but then suffered a hamstring injury during the offseason.

The Titans opted to place Martin on the PUP list at the start of the season, eliminating the possibility that he could play the first six weeks, and spent the past three weeks evaluating him.

Titans coach Mike Munchak said Monday that it had been somewhat difficult to evaluate Martin's readiness for game action.

"It's hard to tell, because you can't go by anything other than the college tape because he hasn't been healthy since we drafted him," Munchak said. "Unfortunately, he was limited in practices through OTAs, camp and even now the last couple of weeks, so it's hard to get a real good feel for him, and then if you put a guy up, especially in that position, he has to go help on special teams right away, so those are the decisions we're going to have to make."

Additionally, Tennessee waived defensive end Pannel Egboh, who played in six games this season and recorded two tackles. Egboh spent the entire 2011 season on the Titans' practice squad.
