New Video Boards, Speaker System a Big Hit at LP Field

Posted Aug 4, 2012

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- As Titans players exited the tunnel and began preparing for practice today, they couldn't help but notice some of the major improvements that took place this offseason at LP Field.

When they looked up, they saw the new massive HD video boards, the NFL's largest outdoor version, second only to the Dallas Cowboys overall.

"It was good to see the new big screens," said safety Jordan Babineaux, one of many players that ocassionally caught themselves staring at the new additions during practice. "I definitely wanted to see how much high definition there was, what kind of quality it had, at least. It's definitely up to par and it's exciting to see some of the upgrades that have been made here. It's going to feel like a new stadium this season."

The video boards were among $25 million in stadium improvements that will be officially unveiled during the Titans' preseason home opener, a nationally-televised game on ESPN Aug. 23 against the Arizona Cardinals. Other new additions include LED ribbon boards, an 800-speaker distributed sound system, 12 elevators to provide service for upper deck seat holders in the south end, and two fan zones.

"I think it's awesome. Even the music -- the speaker system they put in just sounds unbelievable," head coach Mike Munchak said after practice. "I think it's something the fans are really going to enjoy. I know the players already have."

Munchak said the overall stadium experience will be enhanced for players and fans alike.

"The boards, obviously, we didn't use them a lot today, but seeing the size of them and what they're going to be able to do with them, I think it's going to be exciting for the fans," he said. "I think it just adds to the whole package of the game and will add to the excitement of what's happening. Hopefully we'll have some good things to show on those replay boards."
