Tampa Bay Rays and Former Vanderbilt Star Pitcher David Price is Sunday's 12th Titan

Posted Dec 13, 2013

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans welcome Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher David Price as the 12th Titan at Sunday's game vs. the Arizona Cardinals.

Price, a former Vanderbilt standout and first overall selection in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft, has a career record of 71-39 in his first six seasons, including a 20-5 mark in 2012 when he won his first Cy Young Award.

Price pitched out of the bullpen during the Rays' run through the 2008 playoffs. Just weeks after his first appearance in the big leagues, he earned a memorable save in Game 7 of the ALCS, helping the Rays reach their first World Series.

Price became a full-time starter in 2009. In his second full season, he was named the American League starter for the 2010 All-Star Game and finished second in voting for the Cy Young Award with a 19-6 record.

Price finished 11-1 with a 2.63 ERA and school-record 194 strikeouts during his final season at Vanderbilt in 2007. He owned a 0.43 ERA with 151 strikeouts at Blackman High School and was a two-time Rutherford County MVP pitcher. He played in the 2004 High School All-America Game and was the Daily News Journal Baseball Pitcher of the Year.
