NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with DE Ropati Pitoitua on a multi-year contract. He was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on March 11.

In his first season with the Titans last year, Pitoitua set career highs for starts (13), tackles (91) and sacks (4.0). His tackle total led all Tennessee defensive linemen and his sack tally ranked third on the team. Pitoitua has played four full seasons in the NFL with stints for the New York Jets (2008-11), Kansas City Chiefs (2012) and Tennessee (2013). For his career, he has played in 53 games, registered 164 tackles and seven sacks. He entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2008 with the Jets from Washington State.

"Ropati came in last year and filled an important role for us," said Ruston Webster, Titans General Manager. "He has been productive and with the new coaching staff, we see him filling that same role for us moving forward. His size and length are qualities that benefit our defense and we are happy to have him back."
