Training Camp Notebook: Thursday's Quick Hits

Posted Aug 7, 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans practiced Thursday as they continue preparations for Saturdays preseason opener against the Packers at LP Field. Here are all the top plays and important notes.

• The Titans continued their installation process and spent a large chunk of practice working on situational drills.

• It seems that this week has been dominated by Justin Hunter, who made two spectacular grabs on fade routes in the end zone. Every day is a reminder of what the second year wide receiver is capable of.

Derek Hagan had the catch of the day, taking the ball away from cornerback Marc Anthony for the acrobatic grab.

• The defense overall had a very good day. Jason McCourty and Coty Sensabaugh both had impressive breakups. Bernard Pollard intercepted a pass thrown behind Nate Washington that was tipped initially by McCourty. Pollard made sure everyone on the offense knew it was the defense’s day.

• Kicking update – Each kicker had one attempt today. Maikon Bonani missed from 48 wide right, while Travis Coons connected from 53 (five yards longer than his college career high of 48).

• Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said it hasn’t been decided how much quarterback Jake Locker will play or how the kicking time share will be divided.

• The team worked with crowd noise on Thursday for the second time in training camp and will continue to do so, per Whisenhunt.

• Opportunity was the word of the day in the Titans locker room. Everyone knows Saturday will be a big chance to prove themselves.

The Titans will have a walkthrough tomorrow but it won’t be open to the media. Kickoff is set for Saturday night at 7 p.m.
