Titans Agree To Terms With Draft Picks Cook And Kropog

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms on multi-year contracts with tight end Jared Cook and offensive tackle Troy Kropog.

The Titans selected Cook in the third round (89th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft, after acquiring the pick in a trade with the New England Patriots for a 2010 second round draft choice.  In a three-year career at South Carolina, the Suwanee, Ga., native played in 36 games with 15 starts and hauled in 73 passes for 1,107 yards (15.2 avg.) and seven touchdowns.  As a junior in his final collegiate season, Cook, who originally entered college as a wide receiver, was recognized by Southeastern Conference coaches with first-team All-SEC honors, while the Associated Press made him a second-team All-SEC selection.  He was a semifinalist for the Mackey Award, which is given to the nation's top tight end.

Kropog was drafted with the Titans' second fourth-round selection (135th overall) out of Tulane.  The 6-foot-6-inch, 309-pounder was a three-year starter at left tackle for the Green Wave.  The Metairie, La., native started 36 career games and his blocking consistency grade of 84.9 percent as a starter was the best of any down lineman in the Conference USA ranks during his career.  He served as a team captain as a senior and led all Conference USA offensive linemen with 14 touchdown-resulting blocks and an 87.3 percent grade for blocking consistency.  As a junior in 2007, Kropog helped pave the way for current Chicago Bears running back Matthew Forté when he posted more than 2,000 rushing yards.

Additionally, the Titans waived cornerback Christian Morton and wide receiver Craphonso Thorpe.

The Titans now have agreed to terms with eight (Cook, Mouton, McRath, Kropog, McCourty, Edison, Durand, Schommer) of their 11 2009 draft picks.  The team opens training camp on Friday, July 31st.
