Titans Get in More Work Under the Lights

Training Camp CentralNASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The Titans returned to practice under the lights Tuesday evening, this time working without shoulder pads. It made for a quicker, faster practice, but without the hard hitting and physical intensity that was seen in the morning session.

Fans who came out to support their team were able to see some fantastic plays from the offense, including a deep pass from quarterback Kerry Collins to rookie tight end Jared Cook and an incredible back-shoulder touchdown catch by rookie Dominique Edison from quarterback Vince Young.

"It was good, they always like getting out in the lights," head coach Jeff Fisher said. "We had a really good practice this morning, a physical practice…the players are going to rest in the morning, we're going to have a lift session in the morning then we're out on the practice field tomorrow afternoon. The majority of that practice will be in preparation for the Cowboys."

The next step for the Titans is preparing for the Cowboys and their 3-4 defense with three defensive tackles and four linebackers. The Titans play a 4-3 defense and are adjusting to play against an odd man front.

"You take a lineman out and you add a linebacker, so everything just happens a lot faster," center Leroy Harris said. "You have to get up on the linebackers a lot faster to cover it up and make sure the options are open for the running backs."

Going against the Cowboys' 3-4 defense will be good practice for the Titans, who face a similar defense against Pittsburgh on opening day.  It will be a point of emphasis in the coming weeks, Fisher noted.

"Our offense will get heavy into that now because you have to make slight adjustments to that front, but we've got the next three weeks to prepare for it before Pittsburgh," Fisher said.

Titans players are embracing the challenge head on.

"It'll be good because we'll see a couple of them here. We've got Dallas and then Cleveland plays a 3-4, too," guard Jake Scott said. "In the preseason you never know if you are going to get all 4-3 or all 3-4, so it's nice to get a little mix-up so you get some experience with everything before we start the regular season.
