Blidi Wreh-Wilson Back on Track Following Return

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Titans cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson is getting tired of putting on the brakes.

The third-year pro is hoping his most recent setback will be his last.

After missing the first three weeks of the preseason with an ankle injury, Wreh-Wilson played in the preseason finale on Thursday. As a result, he feels confident heading into the week of the regular season opener at Tampa Bay.

Wreh-Wilson played well in his return. He forced a fumble, and was credited with a pass defensed. Wreh-Wilson suffered the ankle injury in the first week of camp, not long after he'd returned following a length rehabilitation process from the shoulder injury he suffered last season.

"It was big for my mindset moving forward,'' he said. "Last season I wasn't able to finish the year and ended on IR and to have the eight month rehab and then come back and go another month without playing, it was good to go out there and get your feet wet and be with the guys, hear the calls and go out and have fun.

"I feel like I'm ready, and that I'll be fine. It was big for my confidence."

With cornerback Jason McCourty still recovering from groin surgery, the Titans need Wreh-Wilson back, and available for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. The Titans were pleased by what they saw from veteran cornerbacks Perrish Cox and Coty Sensabaugh during the preseason. Undrafted free agent Cody Riggs also made the 53-man roster.

Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said he was encouraged by Wreh-Wilson's performance vs. the Vikings. Wreh-Wilson started 11 games for the Titans last season.

"I thought he did well,'' Whisenhunt said. "He looked confident, he made plays on the ball and it certainly was something that we needed at that position and it was good to see him play that way."
