Brian Schwenke Doesn't Want to Miss a Down in 2015

Posted Aug 1, 2015

Titans center Brian Schwenke is looking forward to a healthy season after some bad luck in past.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. --Center Brian Schwenke began training camp as the man in the middle for the Tennessee Titans, and he plans to keep it that way.

He wouldn’t mind a little luck on the injury front, however.

A fourth round draft pick in 2013, Schwenke’s season was cut short a year ago after he tore his MCL against Philadelphia in the 11th game, which caused him to miss the final five contests.

Schwenke suffered an ankle injury his rookie season.

One can only imagine Schwenke’s frustration during the offseason when he missed a good chuck of organized team activities due to a hamstring injury.

Schwenke is thinking positive thoughts at the start of camp.

“It is something where I am literally going to do everything I can possibly do to play every single game this season and don’t miss a down,’’ he said. “I guess a part of that is keeping my fingers crossed. You kind of hope for the best and prepare the best you can, and that’s what I did the past six weeks (before camp), to try and prepare the best you can and have your body in the best possible shape.”

Schwenke, who began wearing braces on both knees this offseason to prevent injuries, said he’s healthy at the start of camp.

“I feel good, feel ready to roll,’’ he said.

He’s looking forward to doing his job this season in front of quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Leading up to camp, the players hung out at a pool party, and at a BBQ hosted by center Gabe Ikard.

“It was enjoyable to get Marcus out of the building and hang out with him a little bit,’’ Schwenke said. “He’s a great guy. He’s a professional and everything he works for is about football.”
