Chance Warmack a Fan of Derrick Henry, Alabama Players

Posted May 26, 2016

Titans guard Chance Warmack is a fan of rookie running back Derrick Henry, Alabama players.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Chance Warmack wants the Titans to roll.

Adding a player like running back Derrick Henry should help accomplish that goal, he said. Plus, he likes the company.

“The more Bama dudes, the better,’’ Warmack said. “I know that’s how I feel. I like seeing guys who played at Alabama play with me, man, that’s a good feeling.”

Warmack, heading into his fourth NFL season, was a first-round draft pick by the Titans out of Alabama in the 2013 draft.

Henry ran for 2,219 yards and 28 touchdowns last season while guiding the Crimson Tide to the national championship. The Titans drafted him in the second round of the NFL Draft.

In addition to Warmack and Henry, the Titans also have two other Alabama products on the roster – fullback Jalston Fowler and safety Rashad Johnson. Players from other schools should expect to hear a few more “Roll Tide” exchange in the locker room in the months to come.

A total of 55 former Alabama players are on current NFL rosters. The Bills and Titans each have four former Alabama players, and 26 of the 32 NFL teams have at least one Alabama player.  Alabama has won four national titles in the past seven seasons, all under coach Nick Saban.

“It would be the same thing if my little brother was on the team -- it is an extension of family,’’ Warmack said of the Alabama connection. “Derrick is on another team where we are family, and we were a family at Alabama. He is like a little brother to me.”

Alabama has some alumni competition on the Tennessee roster -- four former Southern California players are also on the Titans (defensive lineman Jurrell Casey, quarterback Matt Cassel, linebacker J.R. Tavai and nose tackle Antwaun Woods).

So, how has the 6-foot-3, 242-pound “little brother” looked so far in Titans blue? The 6-2, 323-pound Warmack gave him a thumbs-up after Tuesday’s OTA.

“He looks good,’’ Warmack said of Henry. “But he always looks good.”
