NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Michael Griffin was a first-round draft pick by the Titans in 2007, and during the course of his nine-year career he's played in 140 games.

On Sunday against the Texans, Griffin moved into fourth place on the franchise's career list in tackles. It came on a day when the safety led the Titans in tackles (11), giving him 908 in his career.

"Griff probably played his best game (Sunday),'' Titans interim coach Mike Mularkey said. "I really thought he played well in all areas. Very good support in the run, being where he's supposed to be. … He had to make some plays and he did. He tackled about as well as he's tackled all year.

"Griff takes a lot of pride in what he's doing, and that showed up (Sunday)."

Griffin, who turns 31 on Monday, has seen a lot over the years, including many of his teammates moving on.

With one year remaining on his contract, and with a hefty salary scheduled for 2016, Griffin once again finds himself answering questions about his future with the franchise. It was a topic before the home finale against the Texans, and it will be again this week at the Titans prepare for their final game of the season.

"I realize I am an older guy,'' said Griffin, who has 97 tackles on the year. "For nine years I sat in that locker, and I have seen how this business works, and I always knew one day my day would come. It's going to come. I don't know when, but it's going to come."

The Titans face the Colts on Sunday.

Griffin isn't sure what his future holds, but he said he approach won't change.

"I tell people all the time: You never know when your last game may be. (Sunday) might possibly be my last game here, I don't know,'' Griffin said. "When you don't know the "what ifs?" you don't know your future and you have to put it in God's hands. He knows the future, and I am just going to go along with it.

"There's no guarantee for next year. So the message probably this week is cherish every moment to be able to step out on that practice field and practice, and prepare for this week, including myself and everyone else in this locker room, because there's never a guarantee for next year."
