Three Quick Hits from Friday's Practice

Posted Dec 1, 2017

TitansOnline.com Senior Writer and Editor Jim Wyatt offers three quick hits from Friday's practice at Saint Thomas Sports Park.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans just wrapped up practice on Friday at Saint Thomas Sports Park.

On Sunday, the team will face the Houston Texans at Nissan Stadium.

Three quick hits:

Matthews questionable

Titans receiver Rishard Matthews returned to the practice field on Friday, on a limited basis.

His status for Sunday’s game against the Texans remains in question, however.

“Rishard was limited, and we’re going to list him as questionable,” coach Mike Mularkey said after practice. “He did some work today, but was limited.

“Probably game-time (decision).”

Matthews, who leads the team with 626 receiving yards, missed practices on Wednesday and Thursday.

He initially injured the hamstring last Thursday, leading up to the team’s game at Indianapolis.

Corey Davis and Eric Decker started at receiver for the Titans against the Colts.

Cyprien praise

Safety Johnathan Cyprien missed six straight games after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 1.

But he returned to action at the beginning of November, and has started all four games since.

Cyprien has 20 tackles in the four contests, along with two quarterback pressures. He had a season-high nine tackles against the Steelers, and five tackles vs. the Colts.

“He has been a force,” Mularkey said. “In the run game he has been great. He has had an impact. It doesn’t look he missed much when he came back – he is playing good.”

Injury Update

Running back DeMarco Murray (illness) returned to practice on Friday.

Safety Da’Norris Searcy (ankle), linebacker Brian Orakpo (shoulder) and offensive lineman Brian Schwenke (illness) all practiced again on Friday after missing on Wednesday.

“Everyone else (aside from Matthews) was full participation,” Mularkey said. “(Rishard) will be the only one on the (Injury) Report, which is a good thing for this time of year, for December. Guys have done a good job taking care of themselves.”
