Titans FS Kevin Byard, ST Brynden Trawick Named to Pro Bowl

Titans safety Kevin Byard and special teams ace Brynden Trawick are headed to the Pro Bowl. They’ll join teammates Jurrell Casey, Taylor Lewan, Brett Kern and Delanie Walker in the all-star game on January 28 in Orlando, Florida.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Titans safety Kevin Byard is headed to the Pro Bowl after all.

Byard, named All-Pro after tying for the NFL lead with eight interceptions in 2017, was named to the team on Sunday night.

Titans special teams ace Brynden Trawick was also added to the roster, giving the team six players on this year’s Pro Bowl team.

Byard and Trawick will join four other teammates -- defensive lineman Jurrell Casey, tackle Taylor Lewan, punter Brett Kern and tight end Delanie Walker – in the all-star contest in Orlando, Florida.

Byard and Trawick were initially named Pro Bowl alternates. Byard replaces Bills safety Micah Hyde on the roster, while Trawick replaces Patriots special teams ace Matthew Slater.

Byard led all free safeties in Pro Bowl voting by fans, but wasn’t initially on the team after the final voting, which included players and coaches.

Byard tallied 87 tackles in 2017, along with the eight interceptions and 18 passes defensed in 2017. He tied with Detroit’s Darius Slay for the NFL-lead in interceptions, but Byard’s two fumble recoveries and eight picks combined made him second to none in takeaways. Byard had three interceptions in a game at Cleveland, and had a pair of two-interception games (vs. Baltimore and Jacksonville).

Trawick, signed by the team as a free agent last offseason, led the Titans with 17 special teams tackles.

The 2018 Pro Bowl will once again feature a return to the traditional AFC vs. NFC game format following three years using a revised, "unconferenced" format.

The game is scheduled for January 28 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
