Titans Kicker Ryan Succop Delivers Game-Winning FG

Posted Oct 22, 2017

Titans kicker Ryan Succop made a 47-yard field goal in overtime to lift the team to a 12-9 win.

CLEVELAND – Titans kicker Ryan Succop “prayed for peace” as he lined up to kick the game-winner on Sunday in overtime.

As his 47-yard field goal sailed through the uprights, the Titans breathed a sigh of relief, and then celebrated.

Succop’s field goal gave the Titans a 12-9 win over the Browns in overtime.

“It’s a pretty special feeling – it certainly never gets old,” Succop said in the locker room after the game. “I feel very blessed to be put in that situation. It is a testament to our team playing well, and giving us a chance to win.

“It is awesome. It is an unbelievable rush, and awesome to be able to share it with the players and coaches in this locker room.”

It was the seventh game-winning kick in Succop’s career, and his first since kicking the game winner in last year’s dramatic win at Kansas City.

“That guy is money,” Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota said of Succop. “We are very fortunate to have him. In these situations he has done it time and time again when we’ve called on him to score points for us. When you have a guy like that who is consistent, it is huge and it is a big weapon for us.”

Succop has been a savior for the Titans this season.

He’s made 55 kicks on a row from inside 50 yards, adding four more to his NFL record streak here on Sunday with kicks of 43, 23, 46 and 47 against the Browns.

“Once he gets in that stance,” defensive lineman Jurrell Casey said, “we know he is going to make it.”

On the season, Succop is 20-of-22. He missed a 53-yarder wide left on Sunday.

His kick in overtime sent the Titans home winners.

“Guys are excited,” Succop said. “We have a really close team here, a great locker room. It is just a great feeling to be able to share it with those guys, and our coaches. Everyone deserves this, and fortunately I had a small part of it.”
