NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Titans have promoted running back Khalfani Muhammad from the practice squad to the active roster leading up to Sunday’s game against the Jaguars.

To make room on the 53-man roster, the team parted ways with cornerback Demontre Hurst, who was signed last week.

Muhammad was a seventh-round draft pick by the Titans out of California in the 2017 NFL Draft.

The Titans made the move after declaring running back DeMarco Murray out for Sunday’s game earlier in the day.

Muhammad is now third in line at the position behind running backs Derrick Henry and David Fluellen.

Muhammad (5-7, 174) has spent the entire season on the team’s practice squad. He played his college football at the University of California, where he played in 45 games and totaled 2,073 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, 571 receiving yards and 1,931 kickoff return yards. His 4,575 all-purpose yards are third-best tally in school history. Muhammad also was a member of the Cal Track Team, where he competed in a variety of sprinting distances.
