That is what they do. They run the ball. LaDainian Tomlinson is their playmaker, and they want the ball in his hands. He is the guy that can definitely make plays for them in the open field. I think for the most part we did a pretty good job, but you have to contain him for the whole game. He’s an explosive player.
Momentum definitely shifted. They completed a couple of tough passes and kept their drives going. LT scooted into the end zone on a little screen pass. They found some life. You just have to play every play like it’s your last.
It was definitely a hard fought game with guys getting banged up on both sides of the ball for both teams. I don’t think we’re fatigued; I think we’re in great shape. I think they executed a little sharper than we did later in the game.
It’s not a good feeling, no question about it. We definitely didn’t want to let this one slip. Obviously there will be some lessons learned from this. No matter how many scores you’re ahead, teams will continue to rally and fight. That’s what they did, and that’s what we have to continue to do.
Clearly there is room for improvement. We lost the game. If we had played perfect, we would have wont the game. But you never play perfectly on Sundays. You never know which play is going to be the one that could be a determining factor in the game.
We don’t know exactly how the scenario will play out towards the end of the season. We just have to focus on the next opponent and win that one. We’ve still got to take it one game at a time. It’s the NFL. You never know what can happen. Other teams can lose. There are a lot of different scenarios. I’m sure Coach Fisher will talk about those things. We just have to focus on our next opponent.
