The Titans made Chris Johnson, a running back with blazing speed out of East
Carolina, their top draft pick.
The Titans selected East Carolina RB Chris Johnson with the 24th selection in
the 2008 NFL Draft. Johnson was a do-it-all player in college, lining up at tailback
and wide receiver, while also serving as the team's top kick returner. Johnson
averaged a nation-best 227.7 all-purpose yards per game in 2007, running 236 times
for 1,423 yards and 17 touchdowns, while catching 37 passes for 528 yards and
six scores. In addition, he averaged 28 yards on 36 kickoff returns. He had two
games with 408 all-purpose yards. For his career, he amassed 2,982 yards rushing
with 32 TDs and caught 125 passes for 1,296 yards and 10 TDs.
