Biography

 
PRO: At the start of the 2015 NFL free agency period, the Titans showed interest in safety Da’Norris Searcy and before the conclusion of his first day on the open market, the two sides had agreed to terms on a deal that brought the four-year veteran to Nashville.  The University of North Carolina  product was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round of the 2011 NFL Draft.  The 5-foot-11-inch, 207-pounder arrived in Tennessee coming off the two best seasons of his career where he appeared in 31 games with 20 starts with the Bills and amassed 127 tackles, 3.5 sacks, four interceptions and 12 passes defensed from 2013-2014.  In his first two years with the Titans, he started 27 games and totaled two interceptions and 105 tackles.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
•    In 2015, Searcy collected 54 tackles, an interception, a half sack, a quarterback pressure and four passes defensed in his first campaign with the Titans.
•    In 2014, Searcy saw action in 15 games and tallied 58 tackles, a career-best three interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and five passes defensed.
•    In 2013, Searcy compiled career-highs with 69 tackles, 3.5 sacks, seven passes defensed and five tackles for loss.  He also found the end zone twice on defense, posting a 74-yard fumble return for a score and a 32-yard interception for a touchdown.

TITANS TIDBITS:  
•     Searcy started wearing No. 21 at North Carolina because his grandmother was born in 1921.
•     Searcy has tattoos of a cross and angel wings to represent his grandmother and great grandmother.
•     He spent time last year learning how to disc jockey and is interested in pursing being a DJ.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:  
•     The Decatur, Ga., native was selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fourth round (100th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.  
•     Signed by the Titans as an unrestricted free agent on March 12, 2015.

COLLEGE:
•     Made 23 starts in 48 games at North Carolina as two-year starter at strong safety and leading return man.
•     Finished Tar Heel career with 106 tackles, two sacks, five stops for a loss, 10 passes defensed and five interceptions.  Returned 35 punts for 440 yards and 20 kickoffs for 484 yards.
•     As a senior (2010), played in 10 games with nine starts and led the Tar Heels and ranked 15th in the nation with four interceptions.  Posted a career-best 37 tackles with two tackles for a loss and a team-high eight passes defensed.
•     As a junior (2009), named an All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team selection as a punt returner by The NFL Draft Report.  Ranked second in the Atlantic Coast Conference and fifth in the country with a 14.6 yard punt return average.  Notched 35 tackles, adding three passes defensed and one interception.  Returned seven kickoffs for a 23.1 average.
•     As a sophomore (2008), saw action primarily on special teams and as a reserve safety in 13 games.  Totaled 25 tackles, two sacks and three passes defensed.
•     As a freshman (2007), appeared in all 12 games, primarily on special teams and as a reserve safety, totaling nine tackles and four stops for a loss.  One of 11 true Tar Heel freshman to see the playing field.
•    Majored in communications at North Carolina.
