PRO:  Darren Evans is 232-pound running back that carries the ball with power and also has experience on special teams coverage units.  The Virginia Tech product spent his rookie season with the Indianapolis Colts, splitting time between the active roster and practice squad.  Evans joined the Titans’ practice squad after being released by the Colts following 2012 training camp.

TITANS TIDBITS:  
•    Evans had a knack for finding the end zone during his high school career.  The Parade All-American scored 127 career touchdowns, including an Indianapolis state record 61 scores as a senior.
•    Evans has a tattoo on his left triceps that reads “rumble, stumble, never fumble.”

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:  
•    The Indianapolis, Ind., native was originally signed by the Indianapolis Colts as a rookie free agent on July 29, 2011.
•    Released by the Colts on Sept. 20, 2011 and signed to the team’s practice squad two days later.
• Signed by the Colts to the team’s active roster from the practice squad on Oct. 11, 2011.
•    Released by the Colts on Oct. 22, 2011 and signed to the team’s practice squad three days later.
• Signed by the Colts to the team’s active roster from the practice squad on Nov. 12, 2011.
•    Released by the Colts on Nov. 23, 2011 and signed to the team’s practice squad four days later.
• Signed by the Colts to a reserve/future contract on Jan. 17, 2012.

COLLEGE:
•    In two seasons at Virginia Tech, posted 2,119 yards and 22 touchdowns on 438 carries. Also contributed with 26 receptions for 217 yards.
• As a junior, totaled 857 yards and 11 touchdowns on 151 carries for a 5.7 average during his final collegiate campaign.
•    In 2009, suffered a non-contact knee injury during preseason practice on Aug. 11.  Underwent surgery for a torn ACL in his left knee on Aug. 14 and missed the entire season.
• As a red-shirt freshman, totaled 1,254 yards and 11 touchdowns and was named the team’s MVP in its Orange Bowl victory over Cincinnati.
• Tallied a school record 253 rushing yards against Maryland in 2008.
• Majored in sociology at Virginia Tech.

•    Married to Taneesha and splits time between Nashville and Indianapolis, Ind.  The couple has a son, James.
• Attended Warren Central (Indianapolis, Ind.) High School and was the 2006 EA Sports National Player of the Year and a Parade All-America selection at running back.
• Rushed for 7,220 yards and 127 touchdowns for his career, leading his team to four Class 5A state championships.
• As a senior, rushed for 2,806 yards and a state-record 61 touchdowns.
• Voted The Indianapolis Star Indiana Mr. Football in his final prep season.
• Earned all-state honors as a junior after rushing for 2,148 yards and 39 touchdowns and player of the year honors as a sophomore after rushing for over 2,000 yards.
