Biography

 
PRO: The Titans claimed outside linebacker David Bass off waivers prior to the start of the 2015 regular season.  In his first season with the club, he set career highs by playing in 16 games and recording seven starts.  The 6-foot-4-inch, 256-pounder adds size and speed to the Titans outside linebacker unit.  The Missouri Western State product was originally a seventh-round pick of the Oakland Raiders in 2013 and spent his previous two seasons as a member of the Chicago Bears.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
•    As a rookie in 2013, Bass saw action in 12 games and recorded 23 tackles, a sack and an interception.   
•    In 2014, Bass played in eight games and tallied nine tackles, three sacks and a forced fumble.
•    In 2015, Bass played in all 16 games for the first time in his career and recorded career highs with seven starts and 42 tackles.

TITANS TIDBITS:  
•    Bass became only the fifth player from Missouri Western State to reach the NFL.
•    He is interested in a career as a detective once his playing days are over.
•    Bass took a memorable week-long trip to Costa Rica in 2015.  During the 2016 offseason, he traveled to the Pro Athletes Outreach (PAO) conference in Colorado.  
•    He and his wife, Jahnene, were high school sweethearts.  They were married during the 2016 offseason.

•    The St. Louis, Mo., native was originally selected by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round (233rd overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
•     Released by the Raiders on Aug. 31, 2013.
•    Claimed by the Chicago Bears off waivers from the Raiders on Sept. 1, 2013.
•    Released by the Bears on Oct. 7, 2014 and signed to the team’s practice squad a day later.
•     Signed by the Bears to their active roster from their practice squad on Nov. 3, 2014.
•    Released by the Bears on Sept. 5, 2015.
•     Claimed by the Titans off waivers from the Bears on Sept. 6, 2015.  

COLLEGE:
•    Played four years at Missouri Western State and collected a school-record 40.5 sacks during collegiate career.  Started 50 consecutive games to set a school record and earned All-American honors following both junior and senior seasons.
•    As a senior, was one of eight finalists for the Gene Upshaw Award, presented to the top lineman in Division II.  Was named first-team All-MIAA, earned second-team AP Little-American, second-team Daktronics All-American and third-team Beyond Sports College Network All-American honors.  Played in East-West Shrine Game.
•    As a junior, garnered various honors, including first-team All-American (Don Hansen), first-team Daktronics All-American, AP Little-American and first-team All-MIAA.
•    Named the 2009 Mineral Water Bowl Defensive MVP after recording seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and an interception.
•    Majored in criminal justice at Missouri Western State.

PERSONAL:  
•    Married to Jahnene, the couple splits time between Nashville and St. Louis, Mo.
•    Attended University City (St. Louis, Mo.) High School and was a three-sport athlete, participating in football, basketball and track and field.
•    Was a second-team all-conference selection as a tight end and defensive end and earned the Fab-25 Demetrius Johnson football award for defensive line in Missouri and Illinois.
•    Captained both his high school football and basketball teams as a junior and senior.  Was also an all-metro selection in football and basketball.
