Biography

PRO: Entering his fourth NFL season, Jason Jones is one of the most promising and imposing young Titans defenders.  The 6-foot-5 defensive lineman is one of the critical cogs in the team’s new defensive scheme.  The former second-round draft choice was a significant contributor in his rookie season, totaling five sacks in 2008, and was well on his way to furthering his progress before a shoulder injury derailed his second campaign.  He came back in 2010 to produce his best season to date.  In 15 starts, he led the team with 12 tackles for loss and 26 quarterback pressures and added a career-high 61 tackles.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
•    From the time he entered the NFL in 2008 through the 2010 campaign, Jones tied for ninth in the league among defensive tackles with 12.5 total sacks.
•    In 2010, Jones produced one of the most impressive campaigns by a defensive tackle during the “Titans era” (1999-present).  His  12 tackles for loss ranked second among the Titans in that period, trailing only Kevin Carter’s 13 in 2001. His 26 quarterback pressures ranked seventh in the same timeframe.
•    As a rookie in 2008, Jones’ five sacks ranked fourth in the NFL among all defensive tackles and was the top number among rookie defensive linemen.
•    In a game against Pittsburgh during his rookie season (12/21/08), Jones recorded the best single-game sack total by a Titans player since 1993.  He totaled 3.5 sacks, a half-sack shy of the franchise record and the most since William Fuller’s four sacks against Pittsburgh on Nov. 28, 1993.   Jones also forced two fumbles against the Steelers.
