Biography

PRO: Jed Collins is a versatile offensive performer that is expected to battle for time at fullback.  He can also play tight end and even lined up at linebacker while at Washington State.  Collins spent 2009 training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs before logging stints on the practice squads of the Arizona Cardinals and Cleveland Browns.  In 2008, he was on the Browns 53-man roster for two games, but did not see action.

TITANS TIDBITS: 
• Collins saw action on both sides of the ball during all four of his seasons at Washington State.  He primarily lined up as a tight end and fullback on offense and logged minutes as a linebacker on defense.
• Collins’ brother, Jake, has a doctorate in Engineering from California-Berkeley, while his brother, Lenny, graduated from Harvard Law School.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Mission Viejo, Cailf., native was originally signed as a rookie free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2008.
• Released by the Eagles following 2008 training camp and signed to their practice squad on Sept. 3, 2008.
• Released from the Eagles’ practice squad on Oct. 21, 2008 and signed to the Chicago Bears’ practice squad on Oct. 28, 2008.
• Released from the Bears’ practice squad on Nov. 24,  2008. 
• Signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Browns on Nov. 26, 2008 and spent two games as an inactive on their 53-man roster.  Released and signed to the Browns’ practice squad on Dec. 11, 2008.

COLLEGE:
• Appeared in 46 games at linebacker, fullback and tight end for Washington State, totaling 80 receptions for 899 yards (9.2 avg.) and six touchdowns.  Also recorded eight carries for 12 yards with two touchdowns as well as 42 tackles, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
• Started all 12 contests and finished with a career-high 52 catches for 512 yards and three touchdowns as a senior in 2007.  Added one carry for three yards.  Posted 12 tackles and recovered a fumble on defense.
• Saw action in 12 games with four starts as a junior in 2006.  Registered 22 receptions for 306 yards with three touchdowns and five carries for five yards with two touchdowns.  Tallied 10 tackles and two forced fumbles as a linebacker.
• Played in 11 games as a sophomore in 2005 and logged three catches for 30 yards and one carry for one yard.  Also recorded 13 tackles and a forced fumble as a defender.
• Played in 11 games as a true freshman in 2004 and recorded three receptions for 51 yards and one carry for three yards.  Tallied 12 tackles and a fumble recovery at linebacker.

• Married to Kira and the couple splits time between Nashville and Mission Viejo, Calif.
• Earned Division II Co-Defensive Player of the Year honors at linebacker for Mission Viejo (Calif.) High School.
