Biography

PRO: Kareem Brown was re-signed as a free agent early in the 2010 offseason after spending the end of the 2009 campaign on the Titans’ practice squad.  He has previous experience with the New England Patriots, New York Jets and New York Giants.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• Brown appeared in his first NFL game in 2007 with the New York Jets.
• He briefly transitioned from defensive end to tight end during the 2009 offseason.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS: 
• The Miami, Fla., native was originally selected by the New England Patriots in the fourth round (127th overall) of the 2007 NFL Draft.
• After being released by the Patriots, he was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets on Nov. 28, 2007.
• Waived by the Jets on Nov. 1, 2008, and signed to the Jets practice squad on Nov. 4, 2008.
• Re-signed by the Jets on Dec. 30, 2008 and released Sept. 5, 2009.
• Signed to the New York Giants practice squad on Sept. 7, 2009.
• Released by the Giants on Sept. 15, 2009.
• Signed to the Titans practice squad on Dec. 16, 2009, and re-signed to the Titans on Jan. 5, 2010.

COLLEGE:
• Played defensive tackle at Miami, recording 20.5 sacks, the 11th-most in school history.
• As a senior (2006), played in 13 games (10 starts) and recorded 11 sacks, the second-best single-season total by a Miami defensive tackle.  Sack total ranked 14th in the nation and second in the ACC.  Named team’s Defensive Lineman of the Year, adding All-Atlantic Coast Conference second-team honors.  Finished with 60 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, 16 quarterback pressures, one forced fumble and a pass deflection.
• As a junior (2005), finished seventh on the team with 46 tackles and added 4.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, six quarterback pressures, one caused fumble, one recovery and six pass deflections.
• Majored in criminology.

PERSONAL: 
• Has a daughter, Kai Destyni Brown.
• Competed as an offensive lineman and defensive lineman at Miami (Fla.) Norland High School.
• Forced to sit out his senior season of high school due to age requirements.
• Earned All-Dade County honors, was team’s Defensive MVP and earned Prep Star All-American honors as a junior.  Tallied 121 tackles with 17 sacks, one interception, eight forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
• Averaged 10 points and five rebounds per game in his high school basketball career.
• With Jets, played soccer and did step aerobics while participating in the NFL’s Play 60 program with children of the Herricks Middle School, in Queens, N.Y.
• Took children of Generation Jets Academy on a holiday shopping spree in Brooklyn, N.Y.
• Works with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Foundation and wants to continue increasing his activity because of its major presence in his community in Carol City, Fla.
