Biography

PRO: Malcolm Sheppard is a young, athletic defensive lineman that adds depth to the Titans’ rotation.  He played primarily at defensive tackle as a rookie but played more outside at end in Jerry Gray’s defensive alignment.  The Arkansas product was signed by the Titans off the Houston Texans’ practice squad on Dec. 13, 2010.

TITANS TIDBITS: 
• Sheppard’s father, Ricky, is a 19-year veteran of the Army and is currently serving his first tour in Iraq.  His brother, Ricky Jr., is enlisted in the Navy.
• Sheppard is partially blind in his left eye because of a childhood bow and arrow accident.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Bainbridge, Ga., native was originally signed by the Houston Texans as a rookie free agent on May 7, 2010.
• Released by the Texans on Sept. 4, 2010 and signed to the team’s practice squad a day later.
• Signed by the Texans to their active roster from the practice squad on Oct. 25, 2010.
• Released by the Texans on Nov. 30, 2010 and re-signed to the team’s practice squad on Dec. 7, 2010.
• Signed by the Titans as a free agent off the Houston Texans’ practice squad on Dec. 13, 2010.

COLLEGE:
• Played in 51 games with 38 starts at Arkansas and was a two-time All-SEC honoree.  During his four-year career with the Razorbacks totaled 36 career tackles for loss and 9.5 sacks.
• As a senior in 2009, started all 13 games and registered 33 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, four quarterback hurries, three passes broken up and one fumble recovery.  Earned second-team All-SEC accolades from the league’s coaches and the Associated Press.
• Started 12 games as a junior in 2008 and finished second on the team with 65 tackles, earning second-team All-SEC honors from the league’s coaches and Associated Press, and third-team honors from Phil Steele.
• As a sophomore in 2007, led the team with six sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss.  Played in and started 12 games and posted 42 tackles on the season with a team-high tying 10.5 tackles for loss along with a team-high 16 quarterback hurries and a half sack.
• As a freshman in 2006, appeared in all 14 games with one start and tallied 12 tackles, a tackle for loss and a half sack.
• Majored in criminal justice at Arkansas.

• Single, splits time between Nashville and Bainbridge, Ga.
• Attended Bainbridge (Ga.) High School and tallied 64 tackles, 15 sacks and one interception in 11 games as a senior while helping lead his squad to a playoff berth.
• Also lettered in wrestling.
