PRO: Mitch Petrus is a powerful, hard-nosed interior lineman that the Titans claimed off waivers from the New England Patriots on Dec. 5, 2012.  The 6-foot-3-inch, 315-pounder spent his first two full seasons with the N.Y. Giants, where he won a Super Bowl title in 2011.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• In 2011, appeared in six games with three starts at left guard for the N.Y. Giants.  Played in all four postseason contests and earned a Super Bowl ring in his second NFL season.

• In 2010, Petrus tied the then-NFL Scouting Combine 225-pound bench press record with 45 repetitions, a mark first set by Mike Kudla of Ohio State in 2006.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The Carlisle, Ark., native was originally selected by the N.Y. Giants in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.
• Released by the Giants on Sept. 1, 2012 and re-signed by the team a day later.
• Released by the Giants on Nov. 3, 2012.
• Signed by the New England Patriots as a free agent on Nov. 13, 2012 and released by the team on Dec. 4, 2012.
• Claimed by the Titans off waivers from the Patriots on Dec. 5, 2012.

COLLEGE:
• Played in 49 games at Arkansas as a fullback, left offensive guard, right guard, tight end and on the kick coverage unit.  Started his final 25 games as an offensive guard – 12 at left guard in 2007 and 13 at right guard in 2009.
• Recorded 167 knockdowns/key blocks with 21 touchdown-resulting blocks as a starter on the offensive line.  Tied the-then NFL Scouting Combine 225-pound bench press record with 45 repetitions, a mark first set by Mike Kudla of Ohio State in 2006.
• Earned All-Southeastern Conference first-team honors from the league’s coaches, adding second-team accolades from the Associated Press in 2009.
• As a senior (2009), started all 13 games at right guard.  Was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week against Eastern Michigan.
• Was ruled academically ineligible for 2008, but practiced with the team while redshirting.
• In 2007, earned All-SEC second-team honors from the league’s coaches after shifting from fullback to left guard in fall camp.
• When he reported for preseason camp in 2006, he was expected to compete for a starting job at one of the guard spots, but the coaches decided to move the-then 288-pounder to fullback.  Played in 14 games with no starts and had just one carry for the year, gaining one yard on that attempt.
• Joined the team as a walk-on in 2005 and played in the final nine games on the kickoff return team and as a reserve tight end and offensive guard.
• Majored in agricultural business in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at Arkansas and was named to the Razorback Academic Honor Roll (2008-09).

PERSONAL:  
• Attended Carlisle (Ark.) High School, where he lettered as a tight end, fullback and linebacker.  Was the recipient of the Class AA Conference Lineman of the Year Award and was named All-Conference and All-State as a senior.
• As a senior, led the state with 306 tackles (145 solo).
• In his junior season, broke the state record for tackles in a game with 39.
• As a tight end, had 40 receptions for 750 yards and eight touchdowns.
• Was an All-Conference and All-State performer in basketball and also lettered in track.
