However, he suffered a knee injury during offseason workouts and will miss the 2009 season. The imposing, 6-foot-7 graduate of Michigan State spent training camp as a rookie with the Arizona Cardinals before being waived on Aug. 30, 2008. He originally signed with the Cardinals as a rookie free agent on May 2, 2008.

• Clifford’s brother, John, served in the Marines before beginning school in 2008. His tours took him to Iraq and the Philippines. Pete and John’s parents are Susan, a nurse, and John, a jeweler.

COLLEGE:

• Started 19 of 29 career games at Michigan State, including 16 at left tackle and three at left guard.

• As senior, started every game at left tackle and named second-team All-Big Ten by media.

• As junior, appeared in nine games with seven starts.

• As sophomore, named Academic All-Big Ten for second consecutive season.

• Redshirted in 2003.

• Earned bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies-law & society and began pursuing second degree in criminal justice.

PERSONAL:

• Single, splits time between Nashville and Salem, N.H.

• Started every game at right tackle at Bridgton (Maine) Academy, a college prep school he attended following high school.

• At Salem (N.H.) High School, earned first-team All-State honors as senior.
