PRO: The Titans first added Alex Tanney to their practice squad for the final two weeks of the 2014 campaign to add depth at quarterback.  The 6-foot-4-inch, 220-pounder spent the 2015 offseason and training camp with the Titans before stints on the Buffalo Bills’ and Indianapolis Colts’ practice squads.  Tanney returned to the Titans for the final two weeks of the 2015 season on the active roster and saw his first regular season action in the finale.  He was with the Titans for the entire 2016 campaign, predominantly on the practice squad.  Prior to his 2014 arrival in Tennessee, the Monmouth (Ill.) product spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  

TITANS TIDBITS:  
•     Tanney started at shooting guard as a freshman and sophomore at Monmouth (Ill.).  He stopped playing the sport collegiately to concentrate more on his football career.
•    Tanney was a long distance runner at high school and ran a 4:20 mile.
•    Tanney posted a Trick Shot Quarterback video on YouTube that went viral in 2011 when he was at Monmouth.  The video has been viewed more than four million times and features Tanney making incredible throws in a variety of off-the-field situations.
•     Tanney’s two older brothers are in the sports industry.  Matt is the Athletics Director at Western Illinois University and Mitch is the Director of Analytics for the Denver Broncos.

•    Redshirted in 2010 after an injury prior to the start of the season.
•    Was named the Melberger Award winner as Division III’s best player after junior season (2009), recording 3,856 passing yards and 44 touchdowns.
•    Set a school record with 50 touchdown passes as a sophomore (2008) and threw for 3,848 yards.
•    As a freshman (2007), played in 10 games, completing 242 of 376 passes for 2,678 yards and 24 touchdowns.  Was intercepted only five times.
•    Graduated with a degree in business administration and economics from Monmouth.

•    Attended Lexington (Ill.) High School and was named first-team Illinois All-State twice, after junior and senior seasons and earned ICA Shriners Football All-Star honors.
