Biography

 
PRO: Chris Morris brings depth and durability to a veteran offensive front.  A versatile lineman that can play center or guard, the former seventh-round pick will compete primarily at the center spot in 2012.  Prior to arriving in Tennessee, Morris saw game action with the Oakland Raiders and Carolina Panthers over five NFL seasons.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• A native of Lambertville, Mich., Morris was selected by the Oakland Raiders in the seventh round (214th overall) in the 2006 NFL Draft.
• Released by the Raiders on Sept. 2, 2006 and signed to the team’s practice squad two days later.
• Signed by the Raiders to their active roster from the team’s practice squad on Nov. 29, 2006.
• Released by the Raiders on Sept. 4, 2010.
• Signed by the Carolina Panthers as a free agent on Sept. 29, 2010.
• Signed by the New England Patriots as an unrestricted free agent on Aug. 3, 2011 and released by the team on Aug. 13, 2011.
• Signed by the Detroit Lions as a free agent on Aug. 24, 2011 and released by the team on Sept. 4, 2011.
• Signed by the Titans as a free agent on Aug. 4, 2012.
    
COLLEGE:
•    Was a three-year starter at Michigan State and appeared in 46 career games.
•    Recorded 186 career knockdown blocks and allowed only one sack over his final two college seasons.  Was a four-time Academic All-District IV selection.
•    As a senior in 2005, helped Michigan State rank fifth in the nation in total offense in 2005, averaging 497.3 yards per game.
•    Was an honorable mention All-Big Ten selection as a junior after starting all 12 games at center in 2004 and scoring a 90 percent grade or better in 11 contests.  Produced a career-best 80 pancake blocks and was a mainstay on an offensive line that helped produce a rushing attack that ranked second in the Big Ten and No. 10 in the NCAA, averaging 238.5 yards per game.  Didn’t allow a sack in nearly 400 passing plays.
•    Started all 13 games at center in 2003 and graded out 90 percent or better in 10 of 12 regular season games.  Ranked second on the team in pancake blocks with 46.
•    Saw action in the first nine games of the 2002 season as a redshirt freshman and played 86.5 minutes.
•    Majored in finance at Michigan State.

PERSONAL:  
•    Was a three-year starter at center and defensive tackle at Bedford Senior (Temperance, Mich.) High School.  Was selected a PrepStar All-American, first team all-state selection.
•    Recorded 42 tackles as a senior, including nine for losses with five sacks.
•    Ranked among the Midwest’s top-80 prospects (No. 79) and was rated among the state’s top players by The Detroit News (No. 11), Detroit Free
Press (No. 17) and Lansing State Journal (No. 21).
•    Was a two-year starter on his high school basketball team.
