PRO: Cory Lekkerkerker was signed by the Titans on June 23, 2009 to add depth at the tackle position. A veteran of three previous NFL seasons, the towering offensive lineman played in 26 total games with two starts prior to his arrival in Tennessee. He spent his first two seasons with the San Diego Chargers, totaling 15 appearances. After being released by the Chargers on Sept. 1, 2007, he signed with the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 2, 2007. He played in 11 games with the Dolphins, including two starts, before signing with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent on May 14, 2008. He was released by the Cowboys on Aug. 31. Lekkerkerker originally signed with the Chargers as a rookie free agent on April 29, 2005.

• Lekkerkerker (pronounced LEK-er-ker-ker) is a Dutch name. Both sets of his grandparents came to the United States around the same time as dairy farmers and were acquainted prior to his parents’ courtship.

• His brother, Brad, also was an offensive lineman at California-Davis. Brad spent time with the Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders from 2004-06.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:

2008 (0/0): Signed with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent on May 14 and was released on Aug. 31 at the conclusion of the preseason.

2007 (11/2 – Miami): Released by San Diego on Sept. 1 and signed by Miami on Sept. 2. Played in 11 games with two starts at left guard for the Dolphins.

• Made first career start at Buffalo (12/9) at left guard.

• Against Baltimore (12/16), earned second start in the Dolphins’ first and only win of season (22-16 in overtime).

2006 (15/0 – San Diego): Saw action in 15 games along the offensive line.

• In season opener at Oakland (9/11), lined up at tight end in goal-line formation on fourth-and-goal one-yard touchdown run by LaDainian Tomlinson.

• Against Tennessee (9/17), played at left tackle, providing key blocks for 73-yard Michael Turner run and 14-yard touchdown run by quarterback Charlie Whitehurst.

• At San Francisco (10/15), took over for Shane Olivea in second quarter after Olivea suffered knee injury.

• Played mainly on special teams and goal-line situations the rest of season and was inactive in playoff game.

2005 (0/0 – San Diego): Released by Chargers on Sept. 3 and then signed to their practice squad on Sept. 5. Spent first eight weeks of rookie season on the practice squad before being promoted to 53-man roster on Nov. 5. Dressed but did not play in Week 9 after being moved to active roster. Was inactive for the rest of the season.

• Named first-team All-Great West Conference at California-Davis in 2004.

• Earned team’s Jim Ferrier Award in 2003 as the outstanding transfer of the year.

• Started every game in 2003 and 2004 after redshirting in 2002.

• Played two years at Chaffey College and earned second-team All-Foothill Conference in 2001.

• Earned a degree in economics from California-Davis.

• Splits time between Nashville and Chino, Calif.
