Biography

 

PRO: Herb Donaldson enters his third year with the Titans after spending the entire 2010 and 2011 campaigns on the team’s practice squad.  He was re-signed as a free agent in 2012 to compete as a reserve running back and special teams performer.  Originally an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 2009, Donaldson spent time during his rookie season on the Saints and Dallas Cowboys practice squads. 

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• The St. Louis, Mo., native was originally signed by the New Orleans Saints as a rookie free agent on May 6, 2009.
• Waived by the Saints on Sept. 5, 2009.
• Signed by the Saints to the practice squad on Oct. 29, 2009.
• Released by the Saints on Nov. 20, 2009.
• Signed to the Dallas Cowboys’ practice squad on Dec. 21, 2009.
• Re-signed by the Cowboys on Jan. 18, 2010.
• Released by the Cowboys on Sept. 4, 2010.
• Signed to the Titans’ practice squad on Sept. 8, 2010.
• Re-signed by the Titans on Jan. 4, 2011.
• Waived by the Titans on Sept. 2, 2011 and signed to the practice squad on Sept. 4, 2011.
• Re-signed by the Titans as a free agent on Jan. 3, 2012.

COLLEGE:
• During his career at Western Illinois, rushed for 4,746 yards and 50 touchdowns on 828 carries (5.7 avg.) and also caught 36 passes for 225 yards and one touchdown.  Became the all-time leading rusher in both Western Illinois and MVC history.  Set the conference record with 23 games of 100-or-more yards.
• As a senior, led Division I in rushing and scoring with 1,784 yards and 21 rushing touchdowns with an additional receiving touchdown.  Received FCS first-team All-American honors and was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year.  Became the first player in conference history to reach 1,000 yards in his seventh game twice in a career.  Had nine 100-yard games and four 200-yard games and was the country’s only player with four of the season’s top 22 rushing games.
• As a junior, collected 1,491 yards in 10 games, becoming just the second player in school history to post back-to-back 1,400-yard rushing seasons.  Led the Gateway conference and ranked fifth nationally with an average of 149.1 rushing yards-per-game.  Did not lose a fumble all year.
• As a sophomore, set WIU’s sophomore rushing record with 1,417 yards to go along with 18 touchdowns and seven 100-yard games.
• As a redshirt freshman, appeared in all 11 games and carried the ball 12 times for 54 yards.
• Graduated in December 2008 with a degree in broadcasting.

PERSONAL: 
• Attended Christian Brothers College (St. Louis, Mo.) High School, where he earned conference co-player of the year honors.  Named to the St. Louis Post Dispatch All-Metro Team and earned conference co-player of the year honors as a linebacker while also rushing for 1,356 yards and 20 touchdowns.
• Earned a Board of Trustees degree in December 2008 from WIU.
• Was a college teammate at WIU with Jason Williams, a third-round pick of the Cowboys in 2009.
