Biography

 

PRO: The Titans acquired free agent Kyle DeVan during the 2012 offseason to provide experience and competition on the interior of the offensive line.  He has the ability to play both guard and center positions.  The 6-foot-2, 306-pound product of Oregon State spent four seasons in the NFL prior to joining the Titans.  Originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Washington Redskins in 2008, he spent time later that season on the practice squad with the New York Jets.  In the spring of 2009, he played for the AF2’s Boise Burn before being signed by the Indianapolis Colts.  After appearing in 31 games (21 starts) in two seasons with the Colts, he was acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles off waivers in 2011 and appeared in five games (four starts). 

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• After being claimed off waivers by the Eagles one week before the start of the 2011 regular season, DeVan started the first four games of the season at right guard.
• As a member of the Colts in 2010, DeVan played in 16 games with 12 starts at left guard.
• In 2009, DeVan started at right guard in the final nine games of the regular season and three playoff games, including Super Bowl XLIV.

TITANS TIDBITS: 
• After being released from the New York Jets’ practice squad in December 2008, DeVan moved back home to take a job as a substitute teacher.  He made $100 per day at Vacaville (Calif.) High School, where he once attended as a student.  A year later, following a stint with the Boise Burn of the arena2 football league, DeVan was starting for the Indianapolis Colts during their march to the Super Bowl.

• The Vacaville, Calif., native was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Washington Redskins on May 1, 2008.
• Waived by the Redskins on July 9, 2008.
• Signed by the New York Jets on July 17, 2008 and waived on Aug. 30, 2008.
• Signed to the New York Jets’ practice squad on Oct. 15, 2008 and released Dec. 16, 2008.
• Signed as a free agent by the Indianapolis Colts on April 22, 2009.
• Acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles off waivers from the Colts on Sept. 4, 2011.
• Waived by the Eagles on Nov. 5, 2011.
• Signed as a free agent by the Titans on June 4, 2012.

COLLEGE:
• Played in 49 career games and notched a streak of 38 consecutive starts at Oregon State.
• As a senior in 2007, started all 13 games and earned Pac 10 honorable mention honors, as well as all-academic Pac 10 honorable mention accolades.
• Garnered second-team Pac 10 honors as a junior.
• Started in all 11 games as a sophomore.
• Played in all 12 contests as a redshirt freshman in 2004.
• Received degree in business administration.

PERSONAL: 
• As a two-way lineman (offensive tackle, defensive tackle and defensive end) at Vacaville (Calif.) High School, was named a Monticello Empire League first-team selection on both offense and defense as a junior and senior.
• Was a PrepStar Magazine all-region selection as a senior.
• Born Kyle DeVan on Feb. 10, 1985 in in Sacramento, Calif.
