Biography

 

PRO: The Titans added mammoth defensive tackle Lamar Divens to the roster in February 2012.  The 6-foot-3, 335-pound interior defender will add considerable size and strength to the rotation.  He spent the majority of the previous four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens after initially entering the NFL as a rookie free agent for the San Diego Chargers in 2008.  He spent the final three weeks of the 2011 campaign on the practice squad with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. 

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• Divens saw action in three games as a rookie with Baltimore in 2008.  In 2010, he played in two contests for the Ravens.

• Divens grew up deep in Titans territory.  He was raised in Fayetteville, Tenn., less than 90 miles south of Nashville.  
• Divens spent all four years of his college career in Nashville.  He played for Vanderbilt for two years before finishing with two years at Tennessee State.   

CAREER TRANSACTIONS: 
• The Fayetteville, Tenn., native was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Diego Chargers on May 2, 2008.
• Claimed by the Baltimore Ravens off waivers from the Chargers on Aug. 31, 2008.
• Re-signed with the Ravens on March 2, 2011 and waived July 28, 2011.
• Re-signed with the Ravens on July 30, 2011 and waived Sept. 3, 2011.
• Signed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to their practice squad on Dec. 13, 2011.
• Signed by the Titans as a free agent on Feb. 14, 2012.

COLLEGE:
• Played two seasons at Tennessee State (2006-07) after transferring from Vanderbilt (2004-05).  Recorded 72 total tackles in four combined seasons.
• As a senior (2007), saw action in 11 games, including five starts.  Posted a career-high 43 tackles, including 6 tackles for loss, and added one fumble recovery and one pass defensed. 
• Majored in general studies.

PERSONAL: 
• Married to Cherie with son, Isaiah, and daughter, Amarri.
• Earned the Tennessee 5A Mr. Football Lineman award as a senior offensive and defensive tackle at Lincoln County (Fayetteville, Tenn.) High School.  Also named first-team All-State by Associated Press and Tennessee Sportswriter Association and was named first-team All-Midstate by The Tennessean as a senior.  Was a two-time All-Region choice and co-winner of the 2003 Region 3 5A Defensive Player of the Year award.
• Also lettered in basketball at Lincoln County.
