PRO: The Titans clamied Nate Palmer off waivers during the 2016 offseason to bring experience and versatility to the linebacker position.  The 6-foot-2-inch, 248-pounder spent his first three NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers.  The Illinois State product played in 24 games with 12 starts from 2013-15, while missing the entirety of his second season with an injury.  In his first season with the Titans, he led the team in special teams stops with 12.  Palmer has played both inside and outside linebacker during his NFL career and brings great flexibility to the linebacker corps.    

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
•    In 2016, Palmer notched a team-leading 12 special teams tackles.
•    In 2015, he played in a career-best 16 games with 10 starts for Green Bay and collected career-highs with 80 tackles, a sack, two quarterback pressures and three passes defensed.

TITANS TIDBITS:  
•     Palmer was the high school basketball teammate of NBA point guard Derrick Rose for two seasons.
•     Palmer names his father, Nathan Sr., as the biggest influence on him as he never made excuses and successfully started his own trucking business in Chicago.
•     During college, Palmer held summer jobs at the Boys and Girls Club in Champaign and later as a busboy and food expediter at the Bloomington (Ill.) Country Club.

•    The Chicago, Ill., native was originally selected by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round (193rd overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
•    Released by the Packers April 8, 2016.
•    Claimed off waivers by the Titans from the Packers on April 11, 2016.

COLLEGE:
•    Started all 24 games during his two seasons at Illinois State (2011-12) after playing his first two collegiate seasons at the University of Illinois (2009-10).
•    Earned second-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors at defensive end following both of his junior and senior seasons.  Registered 117 tackles, including 25.5 for a loss, 17 sacks, five forced fumbles and two
fumble recoveries for the Redbirds.
•    Appeared in 21 games during his two seasons at Illinois, and saw time primarily on special teams for the Fighting Illini, but also registered nine tackles as a reserve defensive end.
•    As a senior (2012), earned second-team All-MVFC honors for the second consecutive season after starting all 13 games and collecting career highs with 71 tackles and 15½ tackles for a loss.  Added 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a pass defensed.
•    Was selected to play in the NFL Players Association Collegiate Bowl following the season, becoming the 15th Illinois State player to be chosen for a postseason all-star game and the first since 2008.
•    As a junior (2011), started all 11 games and earning second-team All-MVFC honors after leading the conference with a career-best 9.5 sacks.  Also posted 46 tackles, including 10.5 stops for a loss, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery for a touchdown and a pass defensed.  Was also named to the MVFC All-Newcomer team as one of the lynchpins on a Redbirds defense that ranked No. 1 in the conference in yards allowed per game.
•    As a sophomore (2010), appeared in nine games as a reserve linebacker for the Illini, seeing most of his playing time come on special teams.  Tallied six tackles on defense.
•    As a redshirt freshman (2009), appeared in all 12 games, playing predominantly on special teams, but also sparingly on defense, where he recorded three assisted tackles.  Also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.
•    Earned his degree in health science from Illinois State.

•    Was a four-sport letterman at Simeon (Chicago, Ill.) High School and was named to the 2007 All-Public League team by the Chicago Sun-Times and the special mention all-state team by the Champaign News-Gazette following his senior season.
