Biography

PRO: Ryan Durand enters his fourth season with the Titans in 2012.  The 6-foot-5-inch, 305-pound guard has spent two entire campaigns (2009, 2011) on the team’s practice squad and split time in 2010 between the 53-man roster and the practice squad.  Durand has the athleticism and intelligence to complement his size and strength, allowing him to hold up against bigger defensive tackles in the NFL.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS:
• Durand made his professional debut in a victory at Dallas on Oct. 10, 2010.  

TITANS TIDBITS: 
• Durand graduated from Syracuse with a 3.75 GPA and a degree in exercise science in December 2008.  The four-time Big East All-Academic selection’s post-football endeavors include going back to school to obtain a degree in physical therapy.  Prior to the NFL Draft, he was accepted to study at his top post-grad choice, Springfield College.
• Durand’s solid academic record and character put him in contention for the prestigious Vincent dePaul Draddy Trophy given to college football player with the best combination of academics, community service and on-field performance.  He was a semifinalist for the award as a senior.

CAREER TRANSACTIONS:
• A native of Walpole, N.H., Durand was selected by the Titans in the seventh round (239th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft.
• Waived on Sept. 5, 2009 and signed to the Titans’ practice squad on Sept. 6, 2009.
• Re-signed by the Titans as a free agent on Jan. 4, 2010.
• Waived on Nov. 23, 2010 and re-signed to the Titans’ practice squad on Nov. 25, 2010.
• Re-signed by the Titans as a free agent on Jan. 4, 2011.
• Waived on Sept. 3, 2011 and re-signed to the Titans’ practice squad on Sept. 4, 2011.
• Re-signed by the Titans as a free agent on Jan. 2, 2012.

COLLEGE:
• As a senior in 2008, started all 12 games at right guard and was tabbed a second-team All-Big East selection.  Was invited to play in the East-West Shrine Game.
• Was instrumental in helping running back Curtis Brinkley become the eighth different player in Syracuse history to record 1,000 rushing yards in a season.  
• As a junior, started 11 games at right guard and protected an offensive unit that amassed an average of 291.9 yards per game.
• As a sophomore in 2006, started all 12 games at right guard.  Was one of only 13 players to start every game and was the only offensive lineman to start every game at the same position.
• As a redshirt freshman in 2005, played in seven games and made the travel squad for all 12 contests.
• As a freshman, was redshirted for the season and saw action on the scout team. 
• Majored in health and exercise science at Syracuse.

PERSONAL: 
• Has a girlfriend and splits time between Nashville and Walpole, N.H.
• Attended St. Bernard’s Central Catholic (Fitchburg, Mass.) High School and was a four-year football letter-winner for coach Joe Hickey.  Was selected a team captain as both a junior and senior.
• Rated fifth on PrepStar’s top-10 list for offensive linemen in the East and PrepStar All-East Region selection in 2003.  Labeled the top offensive lineman and fifth overall prospect in New England by Rivals.com.  Selected the sixth-best player in New England by SuperPrep.
• Named 2003 Worcester Telegram & Gazette First Team Defensive All-Star and Boston Globe All-Conference selection.
• Earned team MVP award as a freshman, defensive MVP as a sophomore, the Coaches Award as a junior and senior.  Also received the Lineman Award as a senior.
• Lettered in track and field three seasons, specializing in the shot put and discus.  Was a state semifinalist in the shot put as a senior.
