Titans GM Jon Robinson: All Positions Still in Play in Draft

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Free agency is a week old, the draft is still over a month away.

Already a few theories have emerged this offseason, however:

Theory 1: The Titans haven't signed a top-flight receiver in free agency, so that means they're taking a receiver with the fifth overall pick.

Theory 2:* *Since the Titans signed Jaguars safety Johnathan Cyprien, safeties like LSU's Jamal Adams and Ohio State's Malik Hooker *are no longer *options.

Theory 3: Five of Tennessee's six free agents play on defense, so the team is going to address offense with the two first-round picks.

Titans general manager Jon Robinson said it would be a mistake to read too much into what the team has done so far. Everything is still in play, he said.

"I'd say all the cards are on the table,'' Robinson said. "Whenever we are picking, whether it is 5 and 18 (in the first round) or we move around and are picking at different spots....We are looking for guys that can come in and play our style of football, and play whatever position they are playing the way we want it played.

"I wouldn't say there's any doors closed on any positions."

During the first wave of free agency, the Titans have signed cornerback Logan Ryan (Patriots), safety Johnathan Cyprien (Jaguars), returner Eric Weems (Falcons), defensive lineman Sylvester Williams (Broncos), safety Brynden Trawick (Raiders) and linebacker Daren Bates (Raiders).

The team also reached deals with three of their own: Defensive lineman Karl Klug, linebacker Nate Palmer and tight end Phillip Supernaw.

The Titans currently have eight picks in the upcoming draft, including the fifth and 18th overall picks in the first round.

"I think you look at the return on the investment, and the pick,'' Robinson said. "Who is going to come in and contribute to help us win football games? To me, that is the most important thing, to win football games. And whatever position that is, whenever we pick it…

"I'd say this time last year there was a lot of speculation and people reading into what we were going to do and that all changed over the next five, six, seven weeks. I am glad we have all the picks we have and we'll try and be as active in acquiring players that can help the football team win."
