FROM THE JAGUARS

Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone Conference Call transcript:

(on if he's expecting the Titans pass protection to be better in Week 12 after giving up nine sacks in Week 3)
Yeah. I mean, it's always tough. They've got one of the better offensive lines in the league, the quarterbacks playing really well, so it's a challenge every week.

(on where things got away from the Jaguars in Week 11 against the Colts)
I just think that was my mistake. I got away from the run too early. I just felt like we weren't going to be able to stop them. We didn't do a good enough job, everyone, of getting off blocks and making plays. So, that one's on me. I've got to do a better job managing the game.

(on what stands out about the Titans since Ryan Tannehill became the starting quarterback)
I think, obviously, they're getting healthier. With Ryan (Tannehill), obviously I was in Buffalo when he was in Miami. Watching him now, I really think he's playing the best I've seen him play. He's playing with a lot of confidence. He's putting the ball into tight windows, he's able to run. Obviously, Derrick Henry is an outstanding runner behind a very good offensive line. You've got guys on the outside and four tight ends. I mean, there's a lot of challenges. When you look at them on offense, it's almost like pick your poison. If you try to stop one, the other guys are good enough to kick your butt. Our defense is going to have to play real good, sound football all the way around.

(on if he has noticed anything that Ryan Tannehill is doing better with the Titans than he did in previous years)
I would say just overall, just a lot better. You get experience as you get older, you're more comfortable, your command is great, the players are reacting to it. He's playing well, and he's playing outstanding in situational football. I think that's what's on film.

(on what the issues for the Jaguars were in Week 11 stopping the run and if he has to focus more closely on run defense when facing a running back like Derrick Henry)
Well, we're trying to go back to just our fundamentals, you know obviously, extra tackling, things of that nature. Like I said before, these last two games, at the end of the Texans game, and then obviously in the Indy (Indianapolis Colts) game, we've just got to do a better job. We've gotten stuck on blocks, and we've just got to do a better job of getting off blocks and tackling better.

(on his evaluation of Nick Foles' first game back from injury in Week 11 against the Colts)
I don't know. I think we all needed to play better, so it's hard to judge that. He got hot early, then you've just got to take what the defense gives you after that. Then, I thought at the end he started to play really well. First game back is always difficult for anyone, it doesn't matter whether it's the quarterback, or any player on the field. So, we're hoping to get everyone on offense to pick it up this week.

(on if it's tough to balance Nick Foles' aggression to prevent him from being careless with the football)
I don't view him as someone that's careless with the football. I think that he shows the ability to spread it throughout the field. Obviously, he hasn't played that much. He's played one game, and the first game he only played 10 or 11 plays. In the preseason, he seemed to spread it around pretty good. Nick (Foles)'s not a guy that's going to keep forcing footballs, or anything like that. So, we have a lot of confidence in him.

(on the impact trading Jalen Ramsey has had on the Jaguars and how they've responded since)
It's all business. There's a lot of business decisions. I think players and coaches, we all just adjust and go for it. Obviously, players that leave here, no matter how they leave, via trade, or they're let go, released, we just wish them the best of luck in wherever they go, and we just move on.
