Is Michigan's Chase Winovich a Good Match With the Titans, Under a Head Coach From Ohio State?

NASHVILLE – Michigan defensive end Chase Winovich is known for his long blonde flowing hair, his raw emotion, and his energy and production on the football field.

At least one draft analyst thinks he'd be a perfect fit under Titans coach Mike Vrabel -- if the former Ohio State standout could stomach it.

"Winovich reminds me of the way Titans head coach Mike Vrabel played during his time at linebacker," NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah wrote on NFL.com. "Winovich's combination of toughness, effort and production would help meet Tennessee's roster needs."

Asked about that assessment, Jeremiah doubled down when discussing Winovich, and Vrabel, who starred at Ohio State before a long NFL career with stops in Pittsburgh, New England and Kansas City.

"To me, just the effort, the strength and the power," Jeremiah said of Winovich. "One of the things he does is where's it's kind of a push-pull. You'll see him at the point of attack and he'll push and pull you. He has strong hands, and it reminds me a little bit of Vrabel.

"Of course, Vrabel would have to plug his nose to take the Michigan guy."

Winovich was a force off the edge at Michigan, racking up 13 sacks and 35 tackles for loss over his final two years in college.

He then performed well at the NFL Combine.

Winovich's time of 4.59 seconds in the 40-yard dash ranked fourth among all edge players, and his 20-yard shuttle time (4.11) ranked No. 1. His vertical of 30.5 inches ranked second, as did his 3-cone drill of 6.94 seconds.

"Stop calling him an overachiever — he's just a good player," ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. said of Winovich. "He solidified a second-round grade."

Winovich, a 6-foot-3, 256-pounder, would definitely fit a need with the Titans, who need more help on the edge.

The Titans have added former Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake this offseason. He'll play at outside linebacker, and also line up at defensive end. The Titans also have outside linebackers Harold Landry, Kamalei Correa and Sharif Finch.

The Titans are scheduled to make six picks in the upcoming NFL Draft, including the 19th overall pick.

Winovich said he's ready to bust it in the NFL.

"I'm emotional, but not temperamental," he said. "I'm very passionate about football, I want to be the best and beat anyone across from me. (Whoever drafts me will) get somebody with a track record of loving football, is durable and will give everything he has. But also someone with a lot of potential. Any team that invests in me is going to get their money's worth for sure.

"My whole goal is to get into an NFL organization, add more value and prove my worth every single day."
