Three Quick Hits from Thursday's Practice

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Titans just wrapped up practice on Thursday at Saint Thomas Sports Park.

On Saturday, the team will face the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs, at Arrowhead Stadium.

Three quick hits:

Murray out, Henry remains in

Titans running back DeMarco Murray has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Chiefs.

Murray did not practice all week. He hasn't played or practiced since suffering a knee injury in the team's December 24 contest against the Rams.

Running back Derrick Henry will start for the second straight week for the Titans.

Henry carried the ball 28 times for 51 yards against the Jaguars on Sunday. He also scored on a 66-yard catch on a screen pass from quarterback Marcus Mariota.

On Wednesday, Henry was critical of himself for running "soft" against the Jaguars, and said he plans to run harder against the Chiefs. Titans coach Mike Mularkey said he expects Henry to perform well.

"He is a very, very tough competitor," Mularkey said of Henry. "I guarantee you his intent is going to happen. He is a young player who has a full game experience (last week), so to see a lot, it was good for him. Hopefully it is going to pay off this week."

Ready to go

The Titans wrapped up the practice week on Thursday leading up to Saturday's game.

The team will have a walk-through on Friday before traveling to Kansas City later in the day.

Players in the locker room said the team is ready.

"If you are not fired up for this week, then I don't know why you are playing football," tackle Taylor Lewan said. "It's the reason why you play. There's 20 teams at home and there's just 12 left. You're in the dance. Everyone is fired up. It's not a joke."

The Titans have 18 players with playoff game experience. A total of 35, including linebacker Brian Orakpo, have never played in the postseason. He said the playoff field is wide open.

"I am excited," Orakpo said. "I think it is going to be a fun game to be a part of. …We're hungry, and we want to do well, and we plan on doing well. We had a great week of preparation this week."

Other injuries

Guard Quinton Spain did not practice on Thursday because of a low back injury. He's questionable for the contest.

If Spain doesn't play, it would be Brian Schwenke in his spot.

Safety Da'Norris Searcy (illness) and tight Luke Stocker (illness) did not practice.

Cornerback Brice McCain (hamstring) returned to practice and was a full participant.

Tight end Jonnu Smith and cornerback Kalan Reed both passed their concussion tests, and "they are good."
