A four-year NFL veteran, Woods (6-4, 307) spent the last two-plus seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. For his career, he has played in 39 games, including two starts at nose tackle last season, tallying 2.5 career sacks.

"Al is a player with great size, strength and toughness," said Titans GM Ruston Webster. "He also has the ability to play all  three spots on the defensive line, which adds to his value."

Woods entered the NFL as a fourth-round selection by the New Orleans Saints from LSU in 2010. He played nine games in his rookie campaign with Tampa Bay and two games for Seattle in his second season. Woods was claimed off waivers by the Steelers in November of 2011. With the Steelers, he played both defensive end and nose tackle on their three-man line.

Woods played in 41 games for LSU.
