NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Titans (5-6) face the Jets (3-8) this week in the Titans' first of four December home games. The late afternoon kickoff at Nissan Stadium (capacity 69,134) is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. CST on Sunday, Dec. 2.

TITANS LOOK FOR WINNING FORMULA AT HOME

The Titans were on the road last week for a Monday night divisional battle with the Houston Texans. They jumped out to an early 10-0 lead but were ultimately defeated 34-17, spoiling a record-setting performance by quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Mariota completed 22 of 23 passes for 303 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. His completion rate of 95.7 percent set a franchise record and was the second-highest completion percentage in NFL history for a single game (minimum 20 attempts), trailing only Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers' 96.6 completion percentage the previous day against the Arizona Cardinals.

Mariota completed his first 19 passing attempts of the game. It was the highest number of consecutive completions in a game for the Titans/Oilers since at least the beginning of the 1997 campaign.

Mariota and the Titans are looking to keep pace in the AFC and get back to their winning ways at Nissan Stadium, where they have won 13 times in their last 16 appearances. In the AFC race, there are 11 teams, including the Titans, at 5-6 or better, and six teams are positioned at 5-6 or 6-5.

The Titans finish the season with a Thursday night home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars (Dec. 6), a road trip to face the New York Giants (Dec. 16), and consecutive home games against the Washington Redskins (Saturday, Dec. 22) and Indianapolis Colts (Dec. 30). It marks the first time in the "Titans era" (since 1999), the team will play four December home games and also the first time the Titans will play four of their final five games at home.

THE JETS

The Jets were at home last week to host the New England Patriots. They took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and tied the score at 10-10 before halftime. However, Tom Brady's two touchdown passes and Sony Michel's 133 rushing yards and one touchdown helped the Patriots to a 27-13 victory.

The Jets drafted quarterback Sam Darnold with the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The rookie from Southern California started the first nine games of the season before missing the last two contests due to an injury. He threw for 1,934 yards, 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions on the season prior to the injury. With Darnold out, veteran Josh McCown has started the last two contests.

The Jets are in their fourth season under head coach Todd Bowles. His defensive unit is ranked second on third down in 2018, allowing opponents a 34.0 percent conversion rate. Bowles, who was named head coach in 2015, led the team to a 10-6 record in his first year and to 5-11 marks in 2016 and 2017.
