GLENDALE, Ariz. –** Taylor Lewan was hoping for a happy homecoming.
Instead, the Titans left tackle got a double-dose of misery – the Titans lost 12-7 to the Cardinals, and Lewan finished the game on the sideline because of an ailing back.
"To be honest with you I am just real bummed out, man," Lewan said. "Being from Arizona, it is a great opportunity for me to play in front of my family and all my high school friends and all that. I really wanted to be out there with my boys."
Lewan, who is from Cave Creek, Ariz., left Sunday's game in the first half and did not return.
Titans coach Mike Mularkey said he'll undergo tests on Monday.
"We'll know more tomorrow once we get an MRI," Mularkey said of Lewan.
Dennis Kelly replaced Lewan in the first half, and finished the contest. Lewan initially went into the locker room, and returned to the field to watch the second half from the sideline.
Lewan said he woke up on Sunday morning with a stiff back, with spasms.
Until Sunday, Lewan said he hadn't experienced issues with the back.
"It could be as simple as being tight, wrong day and wrong time," Lewan said. "I just have to get on top of it and get good treatment and get this thing loosened up. I don't foresee this being a long-term issue. I just need to get on top of it."
Seeing how things played out on the field was even more painful, Lewan said.
"Any time there is a situation like this and you can't go help the team, you feel like you are letting guys down," Lewan said. "I want to be accountable and I want to be a guy that people rely on. To not be out there, it really breaks my heart."
