NASHVILLE – Titans safety Johnathan Cyprien was awarded the key to the city of North Miami Beach this week in recognition for his community work.
Cyprien, who was born and raised in North Miami Beach and attended North Miami Beach (NMB) Senior High School, was honored with a proclamation by the North Miami Beach Commissioners for his work promoting sports and physical activity as a youth football ambassador.
"We're so proud to give Jonathan this honor," City Commissioner Fortuna Smuckler said in a statement. "He is great example of giving back to your community and never forgetting your hometown."
In 2015, Cyprien started the CypSquad ARY (At Risk Youth) Foundation with the goal to create events that entertain, motivate, and raise funds for local children. As part of the foundation, Cyprien has organized football camps, bookbag giveaways, and holiday food drives.
Cyprien, who played football at Florida International University, served as youth football ambassador for the Music City Bowl in Nashville. In that role, he helped raise awareness of the importance of sports in the lives of children, providing funds to help with uniform and equipment purchases and repairs, and implementing mentoring and leadership programs.
"North Miami Beach has given so much to me," said Cyprien, who joined the Titans in 2017 after playing previously with the Jaguars. "It's important for me to show young athletes in my hometown that they can achieve their dreams."
