Biography

PRO: The Titans traded for defensive lineman David King at the end of the 2017 preseason to provide depth and flexibility on the defensive line. Following his four-year career at Oklahoma, King was originally drafted in the seventh round (239th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles. King has also spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals, Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS: 
•   In 2017, King appeared in a career-high seven contests and posted a career-high four tackles and a sack.

TITANS TIDBITS: 
•   During his sophomore season at Oklahoma, King’s mother, Gladys King, passed away. Gladys raised King in a single-parent home. King credits his aunts, cousins, teammates and coaches at Oklahoma for helping him overcome this tragedy.
•   Due to his hard work on the field and in the classroom, King earned scholarships dating back to middle school. He was granted a scholarship at Houston PREP, an institution with a mission to help underprivileged children get into private schools. “We had meetings every Saturday, we were involved in community service and I took summer classes. Going to [Houston PREP] helped tremendously and it opened many doors in my life,” King said.

•   As a senior (2012), started all 13 games with three starts at defensive tackle and 10 at defensive end. Notched 27 tackles and 2.5 sacks. Named All-Big 12 Second Team.
•   As a junior (2011), appeared in 13 games and made five starts. Totaled 31 tackles, four tackles for loss, two sacks and one fumble recovery.
•   As a sophomore (2010), saw action in 13 games with three starts at defensive end. Recorded 11 tackles, one tackle for loss and one sack. Also contributed at defensive tackle.
•   As a freshman (2009), played in four games as a reserve on the defensive line and posted one tackle.
•   Redshirted in 2008.
•   Graduated with a degree in human relations from Oklahoma.

PERSONAL: 
•   Attended Strake Jesuit (Texas) High School where he was named the unanimous district Defensive MVP and elected to the All-Greater Houston team by the Houston Chronicle.
•   Totaled 46 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and one interception as a senior. Also played basketball and participated in shotput in high school.
•   Son of the late Gladys King.
•   Has one half-sister, Anjetta.
