Biography

PRO: The Titans signed free agent kicker Ryan Santoso in late November 2019 to help as a kickoff specialist. The 6-foot-5-inch, 258-pounder was originally signed by the Detroit Lions as a rookie free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft. Santoso is a versatile player having served as a kicker and punter at the Univeristy of Minnesota.

TITANS TIDBITS: 
• Santoso received the Tony Dungy Character and Community Service Award as a senior at Minnesota which recognizes a player that has exceptional character on and off the field.
• Santoso won the National Scholarship Camp’s kickoff competition by beating out more than 400 competitors. Edged current Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker in the final round sudden death field goal contest for the last spot in the recent Under Armour All-American game (connected on a 45-yard field goal in game).

CAREER TRANSACTIONS: 
• The Pace, Fla. native was originally signed by the Detroit Lions as a rookie free agent on May 11, 2018.
• Waived by the Lions on Sept. 1, 2018.
• Signed by the Lions to a future’s contract on Jan. 3, 2019.
• Waived by the Lions on Aug. 30, 2019.
• Signed by the Titans as a free agent on Nov. 27, 2019.

COLLEGE:
• Saw action as a punter, kicker and kickoff specialist for the University of Minnesota. Served as the team’s primary kicker as a redshirt freshman and sophomore. Converted to a punter for his junior and senior campaigns.
• As a senior (2017), punted 66 times and kicked off 52 times for the Golden Gophers. Received the Bobby Bell Award as an outstanding special teams player.
• As a junior (2016), served as the team’s punter, averaging 40.9 yards on 77 punts.
• As a sophomore (2015), played in 13 games as the team’s kicker and kickoff specialist, registering 17 of 21 field goal attempts.
• As a redshirt freshman (2014), played in 13 games as the team’s primary kicker, making 12 of 18 field goals, including a career-long 52-yard attempt.
• In 2013, redshirted as a freshman.
• Graduated with a sport management degree from Minnesota. Started work on his master’s degree in non-profit management.

PERSONAL: 
• Attended Pace (Fla.) High School and helped lead the team to a 7-4 record as a senior. Connected on 14 of 17 field goals with his longest being 42 yards. Was 29 for 29 in PATs, recorded 71 points and kicked off 48 times, recording 46 touchbacks. Averaged 39.26 yards on 35 punts.
• ESPN ranked him as the seventh-best kicker in the nation and the 129th-best player in Florida. Rivals listed him as a two-star recruit and the 15th-best kicker in the nation.
